Howdy folks, can anybody tell me what dipstick/filltube to order so I can easily check and fill the tranny fluid on my 07? I know summit made/makes one, but when I do a google search I see all sorts of options for Dorman, Summit, etc... I want to know which one works for 07 model. Thanks, Craig

Its actually on the transmission. Good luck. its a sealed transmission.
Its a tiny little stick sticking out the top side of the tranny. its about 2 inches long.

Thanks, I’ve seen most of that before. But what I’m actually looking for is an aftermarket dipstick/filler tube that can be added so you can fill and check from under the hood.

I'd like to know also. My problem is that the aftermarket ones I've seen are Chinese crap that use the factory "o" ring from the OEM mini-dipstick to seal the crappy machined housing. If you find something real, let me know.

Yeah mine is too but I am not sure there is a difference in the dipstick and tube or not from the 6R80

I guess I could look at the part numbers for the original tubes for each and see if they are the same

Here's my thinking on this. These are sealed systems, and if you aren't leaking fluid, why do you need the stick? I get it if you change your own fluids, but, tranny fluid is changed, what...every 100k? Checking the fluid level is not necessary if you don't have a leak.

Not trying to talk you out of it, but IMHO, there is no need for an after-market dipstick.

I tend to second your opinion Bob, though on first thought I was pretty slighted by Ford. Between the choice of a sealed unit or a plastic lined Chinese hose aftermarket dipstick, I think I'll stick with Ford's design too.

I understand and agree. But I do sometimes have a small leak. So for me, $200 is better than the cost to fix or replace tranny right now.

The reason I want it is twofold

To check the condition of the fluid

To fill the trans easily while doing a fluid/filter change.

well some progress on the compatibility of the dipstick tube on Summit

I contacted the company that makes it and the owner replied (rare in itself) and he said as long as the pan is metal (not plastic) it should work. I replied that I was pretty sure it was and I would take a look. Then he asked me to take a pic of it and send it to him, so I will do that when I get a chance. I will report back with the reply but as of now I think it will work

He asked if it was a plastic pan with the filter built into it. I never heard of that but I really dont know

I took a pic and sent it to him and the pan is metal (I did not jack it up and check for myself) but he could tell from the pic that the dipstick tube will work so I will be ordering one soon

I decided against the aftermarket dipstick and tube for now.

I just checked my trans fluid while I was changing the transfer case fluid, it was clean, I just bought this vehicle last May and it was supposed to have been changed at 100k miles according to what the original owner had written in the maintenance schedule but I wanted to make sure.

Actually I really dont know what the big deal about checking is, its right there easy to get to.

The big deal is to do it correctly you need trans to be warm, and the bolt, and stick are right near exaust, ouch! You can cheat, check cold or just lightly warm and figure it will be a little lower.
