Just rolled over 150,000 miles with my 2008 Expy XL Limited. No issues with transmission but believe service manual indicates that transmission fluid should be changed. My mechanic who I trust indicated that the transmission is sealed and indicated that I would need to take to dealer for that service. I guess my basic question is why did Ford do this and more importantly...what is typical range that dealer should charge for this? Any pointers on this?

I am a Ford Mechanic. Not recommended to drop trans pan unless repairs are needed. As far as a flush it is done with a machine and laptop with ford programing to open the t-stat that is in the trans. For that Vehicle around 300.00 for a trans flush is fair. Also there are a lot of transmission control module updates for that trans for shifting issues that can also only be reprogramed at a dealer. Hope this helps.

Thanks tbirdsc15! Sounds like the module updates are good bonus to haveing dealer perform this service. Will be heading to local dealer soon.
