Recently noticed a consistent audible whine when accelerating around 1500-2000rpm. Not ear piercing, but noticeable. Seems to follow acceleration, then as soon as gear shift happens at 2K, the whine stops. Then at 1500-2000 on the next gear, it resumes. Today I noticed it seemed to be a bit inconsistent, as in it would whine, then stop, then start again all around 1500 rpm.
I’m in the slow process of knocking out some overdue 100mi maintenance (117k now) and unsure what this could be. I’ve read it could be alternator or transmission, but not sure where to start.
Timing belt and tensioner have recently been replaced and I plan to replace pulleys and spark plugs next. Any ideas?
