I agree. However, the ridge grapplers don’t come in anything smaller than 33? Those tires in that pic don’t look that big...and they would have to do adjust for rubbing, etc???

The stock Michelin Primacy tires are 32.1". Are you really certain you'd be able to spot that 0.9" difference in diameter as captured by a quick cell-phone picture?

Going back to this picture. Showed my guy at the dealership and he said it’s the nitro terra grappler?

Also said it has a 2.5” leveling kit. Anyone agree/disagree?

He said he’d do it al for $3700

They are definitely Nitto Ridge Grapplers. If I had to guess based on the thin sidewall... 33x12.50R22 or 285/50R22 (a 33.2" tire) maybe with the 1.5" READYLift kit. For what its worth, the tires on my FX4 are 275/65R18 (a 32.2" tire). This is a great tool for comparing tire sizes - https://www.tacomaworld.com/tirecalc?tires=285-50r22-33-12.5r22

That being said, my brother and I both had Nitto Terra Grapplers on our F150's and the tread life was AWFUL! We both barely got 30,000 miles out of them. I can imagine that the more aggressive Ridge Grapplers would be even worse on pavement. We now have Toyo Open Country AT2s. I have 60,000 miles on mine (295/65R20, a 35.1" tire) with about 50% tread and he is now on his second set (35x12.5R20) with 30,000 miles and they still look brand new. We will never buy any more Nitto tires, but to each their own.

Not sure on the price of the rims, but if you figure $1,500 for the tires and $1,500 for the rims at most, $700+ to mount and align some wheels sounds like a lot to me - even if they have to remove the struts to put on the spacer for the leveling kit.

I plan on doing the 3"F/2"R READYLift kit with 285/75R18 (a 34.8" tire) Toyo Open Country AT2s.

Thanks for this! I’m totally flying blind so appreciate the feedback and insight. Sounds like everyone agrees the tires in the photo are indeed much larger, but on 22inch rims. Definitely a lift.

Toyo doesn’t make those in 22s. I’d be ok going a tad bigger than that, but I’m not a fan of the massive tires, especially on a luxury SUV. How big would make a noticeable difference vs the stock 22?

Any other ideas on tires? My guy said terra grappler or cooper Discoverer ATP.

What do people think of these wheels?

Honestly having had terra grapplers on a different truck and BIG All terrains aswell the terragrapplers almost got me stuck in just some thin mud. BFGs have always been a light duty truck/ SUV favorite and they aren't bubbly on the side wall like a bit nitto.

Look in to hankooks aswell, very good tires.

With a 22" rim though pickens start to get thin.

The KMC you have listed says 24" :jawdrop:

You don't have to stay with a 22" wheel either, you could go a tick smaller if there are more tire choices.

If I have to choose, I’ll go with a bigger tire that last longer vs the bad reviews Nitto is getting here.

You thought about running just a basic leveling kit?

You have the AT, which are good yet similar to the terra.

The RTs are basically a hybrid between mud/ street performance.

They look aggressive, but ride smoother than the AT.

Do you HAVE to lift for the RT or AT?

Sorry, do you have to LEVEL? I’m likely getting the toyo, but would rather not level/lift.

If I have to, does the front level looked WEIRD if I go back to OEM platinum wheels

RT or AT is just the tread pattern. They come in different sizes and you can see them all on Toyos website. The RT is only slightlier knobbier, so my guess is you would have more road noise, but I would defer to Blackscreen67 as it sounds like he has had both. Because my initial thought is you would want to go with the AT if you are doing very little offroading and just want the look.

Either way, you'll have to calculate the total diameter of the tire as well as taking the width into consideration on both. So on my FX4's 275/65R18 tires, the 275 refers to the width of the tire in millimeters. The 65 is the sidewall aspect ratio, meaning the sidewall is 65% of 275. The 18 is the size of the rim in inches. All of this (sidewalls + rim) equates to a total diameter wheel of 32.2" so anything above that will probably need some minor trimming of the wheel well covers. A 33x12.5R22 tire is just that, a total diameter of 33". A 33"+ tire is going to require a leveling kit for sure. Also, If you have a very wide tire like a 305/__R__ you may run into some rubbing issues with your steering wheel at full lock.

How it all looks is your own personal preference. As of right now, the only leveling kit I see made specifically for the 2018 Expedition's is the READYLift strut extensions. So a 1.5" leveling kit won't make a huge difference if you go back to stock, but I'm sure you will be so happy with your purchase that you won't want to! Haha.
