My wife's 2019 Expedition Max had a recall for PCM reprogramming. It currently has 101k miles on it. She took it in last week and they performed the recall at no charge. Literally the next morning when we got in it, we started it up and heard an awful rattle for a few seconds then it went away. It has done it every day since then. Today I looked it up and determined its the camphaser rattle. What's odd though, is that it has NEVER done this before until we did the PCM reprogramming.
Has anyone else run into this? Is this just a coincidence? I know the vehicle is no longer in warranty, but if the reprogramming caused this to start happening, do I have any ground to stand on to ask Ford to fix the camphasers as part of warranty?
