I got my '99 in Portland, OR in October '16 with 220K on it for $1550 - immaculate - (5.4L EB, etc...). Loaded it to the max for cross-country move to Wisconsin AND hauled a 5x8 U-Haul (maxed out, too); didn't skip a beat. We kept to the posted speed limits (set cruise to 4 over posted).

(It was $1550 because the air suspension was shot and the owner had zero mechanical aptitude. We swapped the air shocks out for conventional.)

I have a 99 Expy with 245k on it and am planning about a 4000 mile trip in May. I don't have any doubts it will be fine.

Hey there Nate. I have the exact same expedition, even the same color! You will be glad to hear that I am about to turn 300,000 miles! Think about that for a second. ...I have traveled the equivalent of taking a road trip to the moon and about 3/4 of the way back! GREAT SUV! But seriously, you and your buddies will be just fine. Anyways don't get TOO PREPARED......the "unknown " is what adds to the thrill of the adventure and the stories you will be able to share in the years to come......Just go with it and have fun. Regards, D. Scott

It is 16 year old truck, anything could go. My advice is not to chance it. If it breaks down, it will ruin your trip and cost you big bucks. My sister had coil go, on a trip. Just her and the kids She had a 2000 EB, with 130k. You could have belt, hose, alternator, fuel pump or transmission go. Take a bus or fly, 7 people in one vehicle is not comfortable.

I'm a truck driver that truck weighs on average empty . 34000 lbs.Loaded 79000 + lbs compared to a full size suv at 7-8000 lbs. Pay attention to what is going on around you. Don't use your cell phone and drive. It's getting bad on the roads everybody is paying more attention to their phones than driving even the truck drivers. Slow down ! Don't know about anybody else that watched that video but dam. That shows the weight difference no doubt about it....
