Correct, the Truxxx kit and the like require no compressor, the puck style kits require the disassembly of the spring/strut for the pucks to be sandwiched into place. Regardless, I opted for the new caster/camber keys and the alignment and that wasn't happening in my garage.

I have an 03' now and I love it. I've also owned an 07'. Pros and cons to both. I liked the dashboard, seats and console shifter of the 07', but the 03' "feels" like it has more power with the 4 speed versus the 6 speed even though the mileage isn't as good. Interestingly enough.... my work vehicle (2010 E-150 and even the 2012s) still use the 5.4 and the 4 speed tranny combo.

I think a buddy and I could get it installed in a half day. I would then take it to one of two alignment frame shops that I trust with a lifted rig. I will definitely get a price on install of the kit. If it's reasonable, like $400 or less, I would opt to let a shop bust there knuckles.

The interior is what the wife and I really like on the 3rd gen. That is an interesting fact about the E150.

Thanks Dib, I understand now.

Mindgame: sounds like you have a very understanding wife. Mine is being pretty cool about me doing a little bit of modding to the future exp because I am giving up my other toy.

Mindgame and Tallsville where do you park those things, in a barn?

My goal will be a 3/2 with 33's. The stock rims are 17x7.5, does a 285 and a 295 fit properly?

In the pics it looks like Daystar uses the puck style. Thats how I did the 2" lift on my Grand Cherokee. The Truxx looks like some sort of bolt in deal. Can anyone explain how the Truxx works/designed?

Yup.. The wifey is very supportive :)

As for parking... All outdoors... Nice excuse also that it is a way to lose weight..

When I had the 3/2 prior to installing the Rize last month, I was running 305s on 20" rims without issues...

The Truxx is very simple to install... They bolt on the 3 bolts on the top of the coil overs, and you then bolt them into place....

Here is my Expy with 3/2 and 305s..

My 4wheelparts did the install for $360. They quote 150-180 an axle. I drove my price up by adding hardware and alignment. My final out the door was closer to 500. It is a relatively easy install once you have everything loose. Stack the new hardware on top of the coil pack and slide it back into place and attach with 3 new bolts.

Thanks for the install info guys. Sounds pretty simple. I will still check with the local 4x4 shops on a price. If I can get it all done as cheap as Dib I will let someone else do the work.

Do you guys actually wheel these rigs or do they just look cool? I know mine will just look cool. All the trails in MN are to narrow for big trucks. Heck even my little Jeep ends up with new pinstripes when I go.

Mindgame: Are you native to Hawaii? What island you on? Its such a beautiful place. The wife and I will never go back to Mexico after being to Hawaii. I would rather go to Hawaii every other year than go to Mexico every year.

I took the plunge and posted the Mustang for sale. Not sure if I will get any takers in the middle of winter. Here is one of the ads if you guy know of anyone looking.

I wheel mine. I actually had to get pulled off a hill cause not enough clearance. That's why im getting the 3/2 lift and gonna do 295/70/18's. I also broke off half the blades on my fan when going through some mud. There's a pic in one of my albums.

Ran mine stock on the beaches of Nc on the Outer Banks. After moving to Tx, I wanted more clearance for the wide open spaces down here and the unpaved rutted out roads. It's taken awhile to get it set up the way I want, still waiting on rims and tires, but works fine for now. I don't wheel near as much as I used to when I had other vehicles, after all, it is a family cruiser. I do like searching out other Expys in parking lots and parking next to them to see the difference in stance, yep, I'm that guy!

Yup.. Been on Oahu all my life.. Funny thing is.. I am a skiing junky and we make it a point to run away every year to go skiing :) You kinda get tired of seeing sunny weather every dam* day, and girls in bikinis...

The wife hates the leather in KR. Of course thats what I love about the KR. The leather seems to be of a much better quality. To keep the wife happy the KR is out. The good news is an EB or limited is much easier to find and cheaper.

Is there certain years of 2nd gen or packages that have better leather? My friends 05 EB Excursion has real nice leather seats and stiching. From what I see online the 05 EB Expiditions are the cheap looking stuff.

Would you guys be scared of a 2nd gen or 3rd gen with a 100,000 miles? I am looking at a 2005 EB with 97000 that has everything we want and its $11000 or a 2007 EB 102,000 with everything for $18000.

If I find one without the tow package is that hard to add? Is it just a matter of new gears front and rear?

I'm not scared. I bought my 05 EB with 116k a year ago and I'm good. Since then i have driven it to orlando several times, gainseville, port canavaral, and a 7 day vacation to chicago. You are gonna have to expect some maintenance things but nothing major.
