33" in spare tire location

Can i fit my 295/70 tire in the spare location? I guess if i push it over to the side more and crank it tight against the frame maybe........would be close. The trailer light harness is very close to the factory spare on the other side.

I tried fitting a 35/11.50/20 under mine and there’s no way it would fit. 33” may not even fit either

Did you try it? Rather than just taking an approximate guess, I'd say give it a try. There are a lot of 'truisms' stated here that are not true, and visa versa.

If you are willing to keep a small air compressor on board, you could potentially store it deflated. It could yield the extra room needed.

I’m not sure if there are any long term affects from storing a tire deflated.

I did it on a pickup before (tire would occasionally rub on the rear diff cover) ...but you bring-up an interesting point that may make me keep this rig stock height. Seems one of those large, pillar-mounted roof racks (with room for a spare near the rear) could be the solution for someone looking to do a lot of off-roading.

Wait, didn't you say "Can i fit my 295/70 tire in the spare location?", I know you said 'tire' but you can't mount just a 'tire' in that location - it is usually mounted on a rim. So, you just have a tire, but no rim?

Or, do you already have 33" wheels, but no spare of that size? If so - put one of the four 33" wheels under there and see if it fits.

I just bought, but have yet to install, 34" Nittos. I'm putting the spare on the grill guard. That was always part of the plan because I'll be putting an aux fuel tank in the spare location.
I'll be moving the battery to the rear to help compensate for the weight.

Sounds way cool--and maybe I am out to lunch, but won't all that weight be WAY offset F vs R and probably represent 90 pounds of tire/rim even further past your heavy bumper and really far past the front axles? All that and mounting hardware = way overloaded nose by at least 200+ pounds. I feel your on road handling and IFS front end will not be happy either and your weight distribution awful. A full tank of fuel might help but I think I would go rear bumper with swing gate and some extra jerry cans be better? Plus, a better weight distro over the rear axle = less nosedive?

Either way please post pics and let us know

all valid considerations, but based on previous experience with an F150 2WD, I think it'll be ok. It is something to look out for, though.

EDIT: based on the front axle capacity, your guesstimate of an increase of 200 lbs on the front axle, and the vehicle's payload, I guesstimate a remaining 1400 lbs of available load on the front axle.

Plus, thousands of rednecks can't be wrong.
