My 3rd Gen , 2025 Ecoboost is leaking coolant from the line going to one of the turbos. Dealer wants $2000 to repair this. Does this sound correct? Dealer says that its 7 hours of labor to remove the turbo assy , to repair/ replace leaking coolant line. Thanks for any input/advice.

I had a leaking coolant line to one turbo on my 2015 Expedition that was repaired at the dealer under terms of my Ford ESP. Although I only paid a $100 deductible, it was a very labor intensive repair.

While doing the repair, the technician broke exhaust manifold studs and that had to be repaired also - and was covered under the ESP (additional labor).

Had a 2016 Expedition EL that suffered from this poor design. As a retired Army veteran I’ve got access to auto craft shops. Performed the task there on a lift.

Wasn’t super hard… but, prep is very important. By prep I mean getting everything out of the way. Especially either heating and/ or soaking seized fasteners.

Took my time. Took me a total of approximately 8hrs. Not gonna count the time it took me to remove/ reinstall the passenger side components… leak seemed to be coming from passenger side. However, ended up being driver side because the leak dripped/ ran down the line from the driver side turbo towards the back of engine, then to the passenger side, then to the ground.

I was so angry!!! Hahaha… Anyway, once I found the issue it was easy. Make sure to get new turbo coolant line/ nut retaining clip snap, new turbo coolant line nut, turbo coolant line O-ring, turbo to manifold hardware, and lower turbo oil line gasket. Might also want to consider purchasing downpipe to cat hardware as well.

For the best corrosive fastener release spray I’d recommend Kroil. We use it on helicopters to free stuck fasteners. Works awesome!!! If you can’t find that (Have to order. Never seen it in stores) use PB Blaster.

P.S.- Should you do this yourself be very careful moving the turbo coolant line around as it connects to the back of the block in a similar manner as it does to the turbo. You don’t want to disturb it.

After I did this repair never had any other leaks from the turbos again. My description is based on my issue on the driver side turbo.

If you search the forum I’m sure you’ll coming across the mod for replacing the crappy O-ring/ snap-ring design. AN fittings are used to replace the O-ring/ snap-ring crap.

The stealer. Shop around. 99% of the work is r and r-ing it. The line comes out with it. I would do it myself. Parts are only the o-ring and some other little parts. Instructions are on U-tube. You could replace the whole thing for a few hundred bucks. Why pay $3,000 + - ?
