Would it be possible to convert the mechanical ODO on older Expys to the digital ones using a newer cluster? Your input would be appreciated.

At minium, you'd probably have to swap out the ecu and add a sending unit to the trans.
When I try to access features on my Edge programmer that need the digital odo (tire/gear size calibration, for example) it comes back with a "this feature not available" message.
If your goal is just to make it look cooler, the cheapest and easiest way is to get an overlay for the instrument cluster. They have them in electroluminesent and just regular translucent, with various graphics, etc.

I just like the whole digital ODO, looks kinda cool but it would be nearly impossible to do without cracking open the existing cluster and doing a lot of solder work.
