Found the forum on google and joined right away.Recently sold my 2000 navigator for 4500 under book to get out from under the $575 payment and $189 monthly insurance, bought a 97 expedition to replace it, XLT 4X4 116000 miles, pretty good shape, 5.4, $6400 from a dealer. I also have a 91 ranger, 93 flareside, 74 mercury, and my toy, a 77 f250 Ranger 4X4 with a 429 thuderjet,4.10 gears and c6.My problem is when I bought the Expedition the very next day the check engine light started flashing and it ran very poorly. The dealer, at his own expense, fixed a coil and plug wire ($119), but on the way home the check engine light came on again(it was on when I test drove the car but it ran perfectly). It is running fine with good idle, but the light is causing some concern so will go to autozone and have them read the codes. My buddy has a 97 he bought new that now has 187,000 miles with no problems whatsoever but he tells me his check engine light has been on for almost 100,000 miles with no ill effects. Sorry for the long post but wanted to introduce myself and ask my question at the same time.
