I picked this up at www.cabelas.com for $50 and modified it to carry my snowblower and just about everything else I had to move. The best part is that I don't have to lug that third row seat every time I need to carry something.

We have to be careful in Texas- depending on hard-nosed the 'man' is, we could get a ticket for obstructing the rear plate!

The Cabela's item number is QP-521302 and if I remember right it was $12 S&H. This rack from them is only 20" deep by 5 feet wide. I had to modify mine to 32" deep to accomodate my snowblower!

I've heard that, but I've never had anyone stop me and I have been hauling my bikes around the Lone Star state since we got the Expedition. I'll address it if I get stopped, maybe custom make a mount on the rack.

I bought mine from WalMart. Less $$, if I remember correctly.

Thank God I don't have to carry a snowbower on it! Just beach equipment. :D

FWIW,

There are some really nice, durable plastic containers that fit perfectly on those carriers. With a small racheting strap, you can secure them on and have a nice weather tight carry all.

I have 3 that I place side by side on it. Each "set of people" in my family gets one. The 2 boys, the 2 girls and the 2 parents. :D

If you use it a lot, you can relocate the plate temporarily. There are pre-drilled holes on most of them.
