After replacing fuel pump

2007 Expy el. After replacing the fuel pump, the mte and fuel gauge read empty.
I topped off the tank but it didn't help. Do I need to unhook the battery lead for a few minutes or will it eventually resolve itself?

Check for codes...could be bad floater or sender relay or something
