From what I understand, a baffle is a thing that lowers the noise of something. Somewhere I heard that removing the air intake baffle would give me a slight boost in performance.
Is there such a thing, and if so how can I remove it? Also, other than a little more noise, are there any problems with removing it?

BTW, I have an 2003 4.6 V8, if that matters.

Yes there is a silencer that connects the airbox to the fender opening. Removing that piece and coming up with some straight hose to bridge the gap will give a performance boost. The stock piece has a smaller opening than the throttle body.
