Can you please explain/elaborate on this statement...just curious :D
This isn't the place for a history lesson. But I'll give you a few names to research. Lai Khe, Loch Ninh, Quan Loi, An Loch. Too much misery and death.

I've been watching a bunch of youtubes from various tire sites on the various A/T tires... Both BFG vs other brands, and the various new BFGs vs each other (KO2 vs KO3 vs KM3 vs TrailTerrain vs HD Terrain). The more I see, the more convinced I am that the KO3 are the best choice for me as an all arounder. The Falken AT4W are a runner up.
The KO’s are great tires but not great all around tires. They are heavy for the best off road durability you can buy. Which impacts highway ride quality, mileage and around town ride quality. I liked them on my Land Cruiser which was slow and saw lots of dirt.

The Trail Terrain is new 2021 hybrid design for SUVs that do lots of high speed highways, passenger comfort is a priority, mileage is important etc.

I’m on my second set of trail Terrains first set went 55,000 easily 60,000 was possible but I started towing a big boat and they were pushing 5yrs in age and I didn’t want any issues.

I do lots of highway in hot temps, big winter mountain snow and occasional dirt. Mileage was very slightly impacted over the lousy Hankooks like maybe .5-1mpg average difference. Ride quality was not changed enough for wife to notice. Traction was massively improved in wet, dry and snow. Such a huge difference that 2wd could go thru snow that 4x4 every mode possible with the Hancook tires could barely get through.

Highway they are far superior to the H’s.

The KO3’s are louder, rougher, not great high speed highway tires, wet traction on pavement was mehh and snow was not great due to the rubber compound being tougher for hard core off road durability. Very big difference between the two.

The trail terrains are by far the best all around tire I’ve had on my SUVs. On my 2nd set and will definitely get a 3rd

If Ford sold these with the Trail Terrains I’m convinced that the average buyers would think the vehicle is magic. Seriously the improvement in traction is huge under all conditions and little to no compromise even improvements regarding handling and ride quality.

The only reason I would go KO is if I lived in the desert and had a mile plus long rocky dirt driveway. This beast isn’t going off roading like my J80
Where sharp ledges and rocky trails shred tires not built like the KO tire.

The KO wasn’t good in the wet nor
In the snow regarding traction for a reason. Its primary purpose is rugged off road durability which needs features that actually are not ideal for wet pavement and snow traction. They also take the largest bite out of your mileage of
Any tire you get. From my KO
Experience on other vehicles and seeing how little stuff can hit the mileage on the EX . I’d bet the KO’s are easily a 3-4mpg average hit to a road trip over the Trail Terrains.

My heavy tow Platinum typically runs 21-23mpg nakid no roof gear on my big trips on the Trail Terrains 70-75mph. I toss on the roof gear and its easily 1-3mpg hit to the same road trips. The KO’s would definitely be an instant 3mpg or more hit in all stuff over 60mph.

someone mentioned the Mickey Thompson AT tires (I forget the name). The reviewers loved them on the trails of Moab or wherever, and hated them on the road. .

Are you talking about the original KO ? Thats a 25 year old design (they were new in 2000, the KO2 came out circa 2014, and now we have the KO3). I had KO2's on my Tacoma and on my F250 diesel, and in both cases they were great on the pavement in heavy rain, standing water, etc. the KO3 are supposed to be even better.

Had 2’s on my own rig compared to the 3 peak rated rubber on the Terrains its no comparison. Not even remotely close. The KO’s need a different compound to survive the off-road application which is to totally different than the primary pavement focus ofthe terrain. Like I said different tools for different jobs. Lots if dirt and rocky miles absolutely KO all the way. Mostly pavement Terrains all the way.

I ended up replacing the stock tires with the trail terrains. Very impressed with them. Quieter than stock, handles better in dry and wet and are excellent in the snow.

With all this talk about all terrain tires, has anyone tried the Bridgestone Dueler A/T Ascent? They seem to get some good reviews online.
Just put on the Ascents in LT275/70/18 on my '22 XLT Max 4x4. They look great and so far no complaints, only had the truck for a few days before I put them on so nothing to compare to. Previously, really enjoyed my AT Revo 3's but Bridgestone discontinued for the Ascent.

Same experience here. On my second set. First went 57,000 could have done 60k + safely but dragging a boat around I wanted maximum ramp traction. Never slipped a tire on the ramp with these either. Great tires
