When I got the expedition it had the android auto and carplay buttons on screen. I had to reset sync to get working with Ford Pass. Now it doesn't show android auto or carplay. Any ideas what I did wrong.
Tried updating buy doesn't seem so update

O and the USB ports by the charging pad doesn't seem to work. But I only used 1 cable didn't try a different one. But that cable works on the charger in 12v plug

Have the USB ever worked? Do the lights around the ports light up? My ports were never connected at factory, cable was loose behind the console.

I just got it a little over a week ago. The lights light up around them. We've got to try another cable before ruling out anything. Only reason I tried plugging into it was to see if android auto would pop up or something.
I'm not even sure what there supposed to do. My truck will charge phone and does wired android auto. I don't really use it since it's got wireless android auto.
She's more worried about the android auto for maps and all. It has nav but her last vehicle with nav didn't serve her well and she rathers android auto

The lights around the USB ports on mine would light up but I was unable to connect to Carplay/Android Auto.It turns out that the USB conneciton was loose. There are two connectors on the back of the plug, assumedly one for light power and one for the actual USB connections. The USB connection is notorious for not being very tight and rattling loose. I unplugged the USB on the back of the plug and smashed it some with some pliers to make the connection tighter. I did this about 3 months ago and have not lost connection once since doing so.

So is it just wired android auto on a 2019 and I'll need to get these working for her to use it.

Did you buy the 2019 used? If so, you may have lost some screen buttons, due to the fact that the previous owner used FORScan to modify a few things. And when you did the factory reset, you lost all those modifications. If wired and wireless with adapter, Android Auto works, this may very well be the case.
OR, go into the vehicle settings, remove all mentions of your phone. Then plug the phone in and go through the Android Auto phone setup again to see if the vehicle recognizes the phone.

See I'll have to go and hopefully it's just unplugged as stated above because she said she plugged a cable in and to her phone it did absolutely nothing. She didn't try a different cable but I'm guessing it may be unplugged. Praying it's that easy to fix

Quick question. If the lights light up around them could it still be unplugged or is it just 1 plug sending light and power.
Anyone have a link to a good video how to get to that or instructions so I don't mess anything up

There should be two wires attached to the USB junction box. Check out the below link which should give you an idea on the replacement of the junction box. The 2022 MY should be similar to earlier models.

Yes it can be loose at still power the lights while not being able to communicate via the USB.

When you tried the cable, did the phone recognize it and start charging? Just in case check you're using a cable designed for data, since not all charging cables support data transfer.

She only had the one cable and it didn't recognize anything. I plan on getting a couple different cables to plug in to be sure it wasn't the cable before starting troubleshooting. She hasn't really driven it much since then so hasn't done anything else. We're taking a trip to Missouri next week and I was gonna use aa on my phone for maps.
Like I said before it has nav but I never trust those since I don't know updates and all that. Our last one with nav we tried using it and it had us WAYYYYY off route. Lol

Update **** I pulled it out and unplug then plugged it back and all is working now. Guess it was another case of coming unplugged.

Thanks to all you guys that replied and helped me figure this out.

I've had a lot of USB cables die. I would try a fresh USB A to C cable and make sure its not a 'charge only' cable, I have a few of those bought specifically to be able to charge without a data connect.

AA (Android Auto) has worked pretty much every time I get in my Expedition, and plug the phone into the cable i have for it. once in a lot of tries,. it doesn't want to work, unplugging, shutting the truck off, plugging back in and restarting the truck almost always fixes it. My wife's 2016 Mercedes also supports AA (after a firmware hack as it wasn't a supported feature until 2017), and same thing, it nearly aways worked without a hiccup. Our phones are both Google Pixels, mine is a 9pro, hers is an 8pro. We also racked up 1000s of miles over 3ish weeks in Greece with a rented 2021 BMW 330e and Android Auto, and man, navigating around the rural parts of Pelopennes without Android would have been a nightmare.

It's funny id brought out a different cable to try once I pulled out hub disconnected ot then reconnected it and it didn't work. I then tried the original cable she tried and it worked. Lol. So it definitely had something to do with the wiring to the hub.
We both like the maps on Android. Both our vehicles have nav built in but we still prefer using maps on our phones.
