What lower molding are you referring to, if I may ask? I have a 2004 EB Black and I would like to remove the running boards and paint the tan trim to black. I know this is not what you are referring to though.

After posting my question I had come to the conclusion that he probably meant the tan trim. At the time I thought he was referring to a lower valance trim piece on front bumper. I couldnt think of anything on my front bumper. That is why I was confused. Anyway, yeah I dont think I would remove the trim. I would like to paint it though.

mine are perfectly fine paint wise, i was just looking for a little more "ruggedness" where the fenders buldge out farther than the doors if you can picture what i mean. i have yet to find a pair of fenderflares that fit my truck but that would also get me the look im looking for

I have an XLT, and I removed all of the side panels without breaking them...twice. I removed them to get them painted to match the truck and we failed to prep them properly so I had to take them off again. You just have to be careful. I bought a body panel removal kit from harbor freight. They are the blue plastic ones. All I did was take my time and once you have the first one done on the panel the rest are easier. Once you have lined up the tool with the plug I would move the tool side to side and pull gently. I tend to break things when I do this kind of stuff but I was successful. While they were being painted I put masking tape over the holes to water wouldn't get in, it wasn't noticable until you got next to the truck, mine is white also. The plugs/connectors look like they are in a diamond shape. So thats why it may be necessary to move the tool back and forth as you pull.
