I know this Is an Expedition forum, but many of you guy have the Navigators, so I thought it was worth asking here. My wife is considering to hunt for a lightly used 2018 Navigator L 4x4, probably in Black Label.

I'm not really familiar with all of their options and such, so I guess I thought I'd ask if I need to make sure it has any specific options or any major failure points to look for? Assuming the 3.5L HO has the Cam Phaser issues as well?

It appears they all have 3.73 gears.

I guess share anything you can, and I'll use it in my shopping!

Thanks guys!

There were four safety recalls for the 2018 models (to date....). Ensure the recalls have been completed if applicable to the model you’re buying.

There was a MAJOR problem with the a/c system on some models - where contaminated refrigerant was added at the factory. The fix was to replace virtually all of the a/c system components.

You can research the the various TSB’s and problems at: https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls#vehicle

Do we know the dates on that contaminated cooling system? I can't specifically remember and I'm not even sure the ford and Lincoln dates correspond exactly....

The HO motors do have the cam phaser issue, there is a user on here that has had it. My only gripe on my ‘18 Reserve is one of the panels on the 21 way adjustable seats squeaks a little. Everything else on mine has been great.

Did you get the 4 recalls done?

Yes. The J bolt thing for the seat was on mine so no repair was needed and I think the same for the fuel thing. Mine missed the dates for the AC issue by a couple weeks. The only worry I have is for the cam phasers but so far so good. Also, we got a big extended warranty so if I have the cam phasers pop up in the future I can address it under warranty.

I just bought my wife an 18 Navigator Black Label with 17k miles on it. The build date is later than the AC issues.

I'll get some pics up tomorrow. Its beautiful! It was a Ford buy back from Arizona because it had cam phasers twice! lolWe all know they have cam phaser issues, and I just got the benefit of buying at the buy back discount because in AZ they could return it. In Wisconsin, they would just fix these issues. lol.

Honestly it seems to drive very similar to Expedition, but its a little more controlled and less bobble-head action that I hate about my expedition. I haven't had enough seat time yet to be fair, so I'll need a week or so to get a drive in it if my wife ever parks it! lol.

We got white with red interior, I really like that. Its a 4x4 L with rear captains in Black Label trim. The seats are nothing short of amazing, I can't wait to do my cross country road trip in these seats! The center counsel area is genius, open bottom section for wife to put her purse and not have it on the passenger seat or the floor. The push button gear shift is different but its a ton better than the new complicated BS in the 2020 Tahoes.

Its nice knowing its used so someone else put the first chip in it or whatever and we can drive it without really feeling like it needs to stay perfect. Its in 99% perfect condition, but it has a minor stone mark here or there from being driven. I'd cry if I paid new price for this thing and then it depreciated this quickly! lol.
