I have an 01 XLT and thought that some expeditions had the option for arm rests on the driver and passenger front seats. Does anyone know what model those came with and if you can add them onto a seat that doesn't already have them by taking the covers off and drilling into it. Any info would be helpful.

I have a 97 XLT with cloth interior and it it has the arm rests on both front seats. Not sure what option included armrests.

I'm pretty sure that the arm rests were deleted when Ford went to the wide console in 2000. I know my 2000 Eddie Bauer does not have them but a 1999 E.B. I looked at did. The console serves the arm rest function perfectly to me.

That makes sense, thank you. The center console does do a pretty good job but the way I have my seat it isn't perfect and I figured an arm rest on the seat might be better suited. I figured the center console had to do something with it though as I wondered if an armrest would even be able to fit inbetween the seat and the console.

Yea, no arm rests on my 03. The console is serves as a rather nice arm rest.

Does anyone know how or if you can remove the armrests on the front seats? It is a 97 XLT. I thought there should be a zipper on the bottom but I don't see one. Possibly, is there a tool to remove these? (retaining clip like the old manual window cranks?)

Edit: Found this on on another site www.automotivehelper.com. FYI for anyone else wanting to install seat covers or switch sides of their arm rests when they get worn on one side..

"All you have to do is start where it connects to the backrest and just pull back the thin covering of the arm rest. Don't pull off the foam. I had to switch the left and right seat arm rests when the driver side's got cracked on top. It's very easy. No tools required."
