Bad transmission or transfer case or sensor?

Hello, my 2003 expedition Eddie Bauer 4x4 with 5.4 seems to be stuck in low range, but shifts from 2wd to 4hi and 4lo and a4wd just fine. Anyone else have this problem?
I don't want to spend big bucks on a major repair if it's just a sensor or something. Any help will be appreciated.

Suggest you get a copy and don't get a Haynes or any other after market manual
