Body lift questions...

I've got a 99 EB awd. And was wondering if the 3" body lift was detectable like they were on older trucks. I was under neith looking at mine and it looks that it needs to be lifted just to be level/slightly higher than the bottom of the frame. I just hate the air gap between frame and body like on the trucks from the 80's but would hate to spend $1700 even more lol.

Another ?....are there any hidden obsticals involved with the install? Like brake lines, linkages, fuel fill, rad hoses, engine room wiring, ect. ect.


I'm getting some 285/70/17 BFG monday. Gonna twist and space it for now. But will make the decission later (tax return time) if I can do the suspension lift or just do a body lift.

Just add some gap guards. If you are thinking of getting the body lift and twisting and spacing it, I'd wait on the tires. Do the lift and get some 35's under there. I had brand new smaller tires on mine, and then went and lifted it a couple of weeks later and had to go buy new tires cuz the other ones looked like skateboard wheels on there.

Here is some pics for you. The first is the lift with my 265/75's and the second is the lift without gap guards and the 315/75's, and the third is the lift with gap guards. They were $80, but so worth it if you don't like being able to see the air gap.

Well the tires that I'm getting are used for now....and was just going to raise it the min by twisting the stock keys and spacers to keep these tires from rubbing. I may not half to do anything.

Do you have any issues with your set up (regrets)? I'm not intending on doing any major offroading (obstical crossing) normal beach,hunting,winter stuff. And want to add a more aggresive look to it.

Would you say w/ your set-up that between the tires and lifts your 8 inchs taller than stock?

the only thing i don't like on mine is the hitch but im gonna have a custom one built if the snow ever gets here so work picks up

Well, my first tires were 255/70/16's which were 30 inches tall, my new meats are 315/75/16's which are just under 35 inches so split the difference and you get about 2 - 2.5 inches, plus the 3 inch body lift and 2 inch spacer and twist. So it's between 7 and 7.5 inches total.

I have no regrets. The only broken parts I've had are my sway bar links, and somehow one of my fog light bulbs came flying out and busted after my last mud adventure. I'm not too worried about either.
For the amount of $$$ invested vs. how awesome and aggressive it looks, the BL and twist were the way to go for me. $200 for body lift $50 for spacers, plus the $80 gap guards are not too much. Labour is what will get you on the body lift if you hire it out. I think mine was about $700 or something. ( That's in Canada, so I probably paid alot more than they do in the US ) But if you are handy, and have some skilled buddies, it may only cost you the price of a case of beer and some pizza.
