I want a bolt on hood bug deflector for my 2021 XLT. Ford has one but it's back ordered. There isn't enough info on how it's attached. Can someone recommend another company's bolt on hood defector?

I never saw a bolt-on one. I went with the AVS (stick-on) but it is definitely a lot softer material than the one I had on the F-150 a few years back.

Yea, I've had AVS rainguards on the windows of all of 4 my vehicles for many years, and I was gonna put one of their hood protectors on my Expy, but unfortunately, it was too soft & thin to do any good IMHO, so I sent it back before I even installed it...and it was the bolt/screw-on type too.

Mine from ford has rubber insulators and clips that slide over the edge of the hood. Then the shield bolts onto the brackets. Very solid and super nice.

My Weathertech has clips that fit in the hood of my 24 KR and then the shield is held in by screws. No tape

I bought that one from Ford (JL1J-16C900-AB). Four of the clips line up with the rectangle holes on the underside of the hood lip. The kit didn't come with nylon nut grommets to insert in the rectangle hole. I couldn't use the kit.

I bought a Husky hood shield. That kit came the correct amount of nylon nut grommets to insert in the rectangle holes.

The Ford one does not require screws to be connected to the hood. The clips slide over the rubber shields for a very tight fit.
Mine has been on for over 2 years, looks brand new and has never moved or rattled.

The instructions I have clearly show the brackets/clips are underneath the rubber shield.

over the rubber shield, not under. If you look close at figure 7 and 8, you will see the rubber shield sticks to the hood. Then the bracket slides over the top of the rubber shield and wedges tight. figure nine shows screwing into the bracket from the deflector bottom
