I've been through brush guard hell and can tell you that most all of the major brands are the same exact thing, maybe very minor differences, stamped out in mexico and china. They are boxed and sold here by various "manufacturers". *cough*

That given, why pay $450 for the same exact thing as the $250 one?

If it says 1.5" steel tubing, power coated paint etc etc, then there's really no difference in one from the other. There are DEFINITELY brands that I would avoid like the plague, and some online sellers that I would love to do serious grief to.

Aries sent me TWO units that were mislabeled and another brand I had to file a complaint with the ATG offices and BBB and still never got my money back.

Either buy the one off ebay, or buy a Westin. No matter what you buy, say the Rosary and pray they send you the right brackets and that you can figure out how to install it with the cryptic instructions.

$250 - $350 would be the most I would pay for any of them, including Westin. Google and craigslist are our friends.

That's the ebay one I was referring to. If I recall they are in Texas and not too available by phone. They did email me some instructions, but they were as vague and cartoonish as the other brands. I like the idea of the wrap around rubber part. When you get it and inspect for any flaws in the paint, then wax the bejeezus out of it. Heck if it works out for you, I might do the same. There's a Westin locally, but I can't seem to catch up with the guy.

When you get it, open the cardboard and start unwrapping the Styrofoam, would you mind taking a lot of pics of the parts and esp the bottom brackets and hardware? Much appreciated if I could see before I order since it has to live with the CURT on the same bolt holes.

I decided to not get tow hooks, it adds another 1\4" to the stack and I have a hitch with a hook I can use for that purpose.

*EDIT* Meh, I just went ahead and ordered one for myself. So good or bad, we're in the same boat.

Well . . . you're not going to believe this, but the folks with the Westin finally got in touch with me and I got it for $300 out the door. So I have it in my possession and cancelled the other order.

When my Curt shows up I'll do all the front end work and post pics.

I couldn't get the Westin mounted on the Expy, I gave up and boxed it all up again.

If you get the Hunter, please take a bajillion pics of the parts and how it fits against your bumper etc. If yours goes well and looks good, I may just go that route.
