Bumper Opening to Hitch

It looks like the safety chains would make contact with the lower portion of the receiver opening on the bumper. Anyone use something to protect that little portion of the bumper when towing?

I just towed my wife's 2018 explorer on a CRAPPY U-haul trailer about 400ish miles and while the tow chains did touch the lower part of the bumper, there wasn't any damage associated with it. That being said, I will not be towing a lot and maybe it will do some damage if you do.

I just looked at mine and I don’t see any wear or anything on mine. Also, the cover still has a very firm connection when installed.

It might depend on the chain end links and how big and bulky they might be.

However, after no less than 30 tows since I got it, I have no issues with the bumper getting worn, cracking, breaking, etc.
