I'm looking for a cargo liner or protector for my 05 XLT, I seem to find lots of them made from plastic or rubber that either cover the carpet behind the 3rd row seat or up to the 2nd row. These look nice but if I get the larger one that goes to the 2nd row I would have to remove it when I lift up one or both 3rd row seats. With that said anyone out there find a good cargo protector that can be used with the 3rd row seat either up or down?

Thanks!

I just use a large "clear" mat. It's more or less flexable, so if I have to use the 3rd row seating, it just bends back, covering the rear of the 3rd row seats. Not really much of a concern for me since I usually don't use the 3rd row seats. Only thing I hate about it is since it's that hard plastic, stuff likes to slide around.

Maybe make a 2/3 piece mat (depending if you have to have 1 or 2 pieces covering 3rd row seats when folded down). When you need the 3rd row, just transfer the mat from the back of the seats to the floor in the 3rd row. Won't be the most awesome fit, but I think it'd work. Obviously, the mat would have to be flexible for this to work.

Thanks for the ideas, I'm looking at all options before I buy one....what would be cool is a liner that was spill proof with a lip (which is what I need for all the fishing gear and associated wet equipment I carry) that can remain in when the 3rd row seat is in the up or split position.

Funny timing! I just posted this...

Take a look at the pics. I don't know if it'll work in your '05 but you might be able to do something with it. Since it installs directly to the seats it'll move when they do.

the husky one will hold up to 3 gals of liquid but once you cut the holes out for the 3rd row of seating that goes out the window unless you make some type of lip around the cut outs...

I purchased full set of Husky liners for my 03 E.B. (front seat,2nd seat, 3rd seat and cargo liners)
I typically have the 3rd seats down but when I do have to raise them, I roll the cargo liner up and either remove from the truck or store behind the 3rd seat.
They have saved many hours of cleaning carpets with 2 kids in the back!

I purchased them from www.autoanything.com. They pay for themselves in one year!

I just received the Canvasback cargo liner. First impression was it's not very thick, basically feels like ballistic cordura nylon which feels like it's slightly rubberized. It does fit the rear section fairly well with the edge of it lining up with al the contours. It has pockets that allow it to go over the top of the third row seats so it protects the headrests of the third row seats as well. There is a zipper which allows the split third row seat to have one side up and still be covered. The kit also came with covers for the backs of the second row seats.

I like the fit and function of how it fits over the third row and covers the cargo area, I'm not real hip on the covers for the 2nd row seats, they just don't fit as snug and nice as the back section. There is velcro sewn to the back of the protector which grabs the carpet to hold it in place which works well. I tested it for water proofness and no water can't penetrate it basically beads up and rolls around, but there is no lip so water can travel to the edge and run down into the seats. I would say it's perfect for keeping the carpet and seat backs from getting damaged by cargo, and pets, but I would not recommend it for hauling wet stuff as it will not contain water (which I was aware of before buying it). Cost was $159 so it was not cheap but the first time it keeps myr carpet from getting ruined or stained it has paid for itself.

Looking forward to your report. I have a 2nd row bench, and will be using the third row often with another baby on the way!

I just ordered the cargo area protector from Canvasback and the protector just covers the back of the third row seats and cargo area. The protector cost just $125.00 and their
production time is approximately 5 weeks. I will post a update when the protector arrives.

Received my Canvasback cargo area cover today. It came in four pieces; one for each back of the third row seat, one for the cargo management section and one for the area between the cargo management section and the rubber of the gate door trim. Each piece is held in place by velcro and when the seats are lowered the cover is snug. The pieces match the color of the interior of my expedition and covers the sections to the edges. Here are the pictures of the cover with the seats up and lying flat.
