IMG_20260101_131639.jpgNewly installed catch can. Installed Christmas Day and have collected this much crap in a week. Is this normal? Yes it has been raining and a lot of dew and fog in the mornings. I let warm up for about 2 mins before heading out and easy on it until oil temp says normal. This is a new to me 2017 Expy with 118,000ish miles. Either way im glad that crap is not getting sucked down the intake anymore.

I wouldn’t be surprised. If there’s been lots of moisture, it’s likely condensing in the motor. Especially if you’ve had lots of short drives and the motor hasn’t gotten thoroughly warmed.

Good idea to add the catch can. My 2022 collects about 3-4 ounces every 5k miles (drain every oil change) and I'm at about 81k miles. It looks very similar to what you've got and is a mixture of oil, fuel and water. It smells like hell. Maybe give it a month and drain it again to see how much you've got? What brand catch can and how big is the reservoir?

The milky collections seem to be more common in cold weather / cold climates. I've had a catch can on our 2016 for 6 or 7 years (about 35k miles) in Melbourne, FL. It's humid and we get plenty of rain, but it's rarely cold. I've never had a milky collection, only black oil.

I've had a catch can on my 2017 for 3 years. It's amazing how much crap it keeps from being sent back into the cylinders.
