Ceramic coating AND PPF

I'm looking for experienced people....Ordered a 2026 Platinum Max Stealth Appearance and Performance Star-White. What do you 'all know about getting PPF AND Ceramic Coating at the same time? I'm thinking of upon delivery take it immediately to get these done. I would only use No-Touch washes and hand wash. No brushes from a car wash will ever touch it. It will be garage kept. I'm looking for some pro's and con's for each. Anyone??????????

Hi Lisa,

I have not used a ceramic coat on my 2014 Expedition Limited and I ordered it in the Star white Tri-coat. I just traded it in after never waxing it and often bringing it to a car wash where they use brushes.

When I traded it in, the Money guy at the dealer (The one that you sit with and he closes the deal and tries to sell you all sorts of add-ons), well, he looked at my trade in 2014 and said "Did you ceramic coat that finish?" since the paint still looked new after 12 years, never garaged.

I think the process of the tri-coat offers a much more durable finish. The white color also reflects UV rays so it lasts longer than darker colors.

Up to the last day that I owned my 2014, people would ask me if I bought a new truck after a wash.

I almost bought my 26 Expedition Tremor in Star White Tri-coat but decided it was time to change things and not be so Black and White.

The ceramic coat that the dealer offers is always overpriced. If you still want it I would look for a professional outside the dealer.

Just get any of the better self applied ceramic coat products available at any auto parts store. I have been using 303 products for years....my 2021 Ranger looked brand new after 4 years with 303 Ceramic Coat....just gave it a fresh application about every 6 months.
Dealer applied is not "magic" stuff....comes from a bottle, and I have never heard of any of this stuff lasting "10" years.......Horse Patooters !!!!!!

I got a ceramic coating from a detailer, he put on some new stuff that's supposed to last 20 years. I figure even if it lasts half as long as they say I'll be in good shape. He said do hand washes only with a rinseless soap. With the coating its super easy to wash. I had some bird stuff all over the car, and sap (I unfortunately am forced to park under a huge tree, which is why I got the coating in the first place) and the rain we just had washed ALL of it off. Good stuff.

I'm planning to PPF the front end, along with the running boards, of my Expedition when it arrives.
That won't be for a few months, but I'm happy to offer my feedback once it's done. I'm a big believer in PPF. I has worked well for my and my wife's most recent vehicles. We did have to get a few things re-done over time, but no paint chips or gouges in any of the plastics.

I'm with the filks above on ceramic coating. Do it yourself. The good products from 303, Chemical Guys, etc, that you can spray on yourself after a good thorough wash work well and don't cost an arm and a leg.

I applied a Graphene Ceramic coating myself. It was no harder than waxing a car. I paid about $40 for the bottle and used about a third of it. It claims it will last 5 years, but I doubt it and time will tell. I can tell the difference in the rain and when I wash the EX. Water just runs off. It also stays cleaner. My next project is to coat the windshield with windshield ceramic coating. My Son did his and he doesn't have to use his wipers anymore.

Some of the claims on these protectorates 5 years up to 40 years. The stuff hasn't been around for 40 years. My cars are through the car wash 3+ times a week to get the salt off the paint. One other thought who keeps their truck/car much longer that 5 years the damn things seem to self destruct in 3-4 years. Drive it and enjoy it.

I agree. I see 5 and translate to 5 years in a controlled storage facility. Real life maybe a year and I even doubt that. And the claims can be anything they say, as long as they don't guarantee it. I figure I'll do it again when I see the water laying on the hood after a blow dry.
