code 1780 Transmission problem

Hi fellas im new here at this site and i need a little help finding a problem with my 1998 5.4 expedition, I have a MIL on i hook up my scanner i get code "1780 TRANS CTRLSW out of range" What exatly needs to be replace here?? I ve notice tranny doesnt shift prperly and last gear never responds on high loads, according to the book its says the swicth control but i want to make sure here before i start spending money any help will be great Thanks pepe

Is the OD light on the shifter stalk working?

Those wires inside have been known to chafe.

yes it works i tried with and with out it and for some reason when im on the freeway around 66-70mph and flow it WOT the gear doesnt enter it just stumbles. All other low loads work properly and shift fine until then.
monsta what you mean about the wires? weak ? no good?? hard to replace?? Thanks Pepe
