We have an '03 Expy with the 4.6 at 144,000 miles. Needed new coils so bought and installed cheap ones from E-bay, as well as new OE plugs. One after the other, coils began to misfire again. Replaced with a couple of spares until I'm out of spares. Need new coils that WORK.
Here's the question:
Anybody have experience with ACCEL coils? They're cheaper than buying original replacements from local Ford dealership, but don't want to buy something if people may have had trouble with them.
Thanks.

I just had 8 new Accels installed on my '06. Not enough miles to know much about them, but the mechanic said they were better than stock units.

Just put 7 Accels and new oem plugs on my 03 5.4l but I too only have about 300 miles on them. The 8th was already there from a previous coil going bad. Now that coil was over 2 years old and the only issue I had was when I removed it last week to replace the plug. The boot did not want to come out with the coil but that was an easy fix. I was able to get them for about $27 each and free shipping from Advance Auto with a coupon code they mailed to me. I would had done in-store pickup but my local store didn't have all of them in-stock.

Just put in 8 new Accel cops, instead of cheap ebay-ones. Now it runs like new, and shifts like a dream.

Hopefully it will last for a while.

I am really happy so far with the Accel's. I have seen almost a 2 MPG increase so far without cleaning the MAF sensor or cleaning out the TB.

I bought the cheap ones off Ebay and didn't even make it around the block before I went back to the mechanic. The truck was studdering and had no power.
He said the coils were too hot for the plugs I bought, (NGK).

He put my old coils on two cylinders and it's running...but still doesn't "feel" 100%

I've already bought the Motorcraft plugs and will by buying Accel coils.

Tried to safe money and now it's twice as expensive.

Good point. Are the ACCEL coils you guys are using, being used with stock replacement platinum plugs or have you upgraded to Iridium plugs like the E3 plugs? I've read people have had touble with antyhing other than stock replacement plugs.
