I have a 2020 limited max tow. Not sure if that matters, but threw code P0306 which is a cylinder 6 misfire. I replaced that plug, swapped the coil pack to with another cylinder, cleared the code and started up. Same misfire, P0306. Anyone seen this, have suggestions?

Cylinder #6 is the drivers side bank very last cylinder, if you look at the engine with the hood open.
Injectors, wiring issues, ECU, compression, timing issue, vacuum leak, coils and plugs are my suggestions.

Yours valves are carboned up for the cylinder or lost compression

There is a recall that might fix your issue.

I just had it done last week, which they do a software reprogram to the PCM module, because of giving false reading about bad oxygen sensors, catalytic converter, etc.
Before the recall, I had the same error with the same symptoms. Rather than go through the issue of replacing the oxygen sensor, I followed my Authorized Ford mechanic friend's advice and purchased this product. He said they use it at his dealership.
Liqui Moly Catalytic System Clean 300 ml 7110
I followed the exact directions and the bad idle, misfiring, etc., went away. The code never came back.

On update on this. Compression is good. Spark is good. PCV valve is good. There is oil on the spark plug thread, I’m thinking either valve cover gasket or the spark plug seal. Thoughts?

How many miles on the truck? Are you checking things yourelf or did you have a shop do it? Were the replacement parts factory or aftermarket? Do you know what the misfire count is (mode 6 data)? If you're doing it yourself there are a lot of things you could check such carbon buildup on the valves, injectors, crank sensor relearn.

64000 miles. The only replacement part so far was the spark plug. I swapped coil packs and it was still cylinder 6. Yes all these things I am checking myself. I don’t have the time to pull the valve cover myself. I think my next step is to get it to the dealer to complete the PCM update.

2020 is pretty new but just fyi, I have a 2003 and had the same misfire code and tried swapping coils but it still misfired. After a close inspection I saw that it was the connector to the coil. One of the wires was damaged. The wiring harness on mine doesn't leave much wire to the coil connector, and then they twist them too hard, imo, and wrap them in tape so some of the connectors barely reach the coil. With all of that heat cycling under the hood the wires get brittle. Wouldn't take much of a pull to accidentally damage a connector, the wire or the pin. Could just as easily have been the connector to the fuel injector for that cylinder. Anyway, I got them at a low price on Amazon, all with about 8 inches of pigtail. I replaced the coil connector to the misfiring cylinder and the issue was resolved. Spent an afternoon replacing all of the connectors to the coils and all of the connectors to the fuel injectors, adding a couple inches of wire compared to the original. $35 for the set of coil connectors on Amazon and $12 for the set of fuel injector connectors,

NOTE: MAKE SURE YOU CHECK THE COLORS OF THE WIRES GOING INTO THE CONNECTORS. The new connectors and pigtails are red for positive and black for negative. But the wires in your wire harness are not what you expect. I think on the coil connector the positive wire was green with a white stripe? And I think on the fuel injector connectors they were orange? None of the negative wires were black, although I think they were another color with a faint black line.

Dealer got way more codes than me, which is weird…. But it ended up being the injectors. Anyone else pull codes and then have the dealer do it and there are a bunch more? Seems fishy… but I’m an amateur….

Dealers use more sophisticated software like IDS FDRS for diagnosing and repairing vehicles.
