Just recently I was driving home, and the truck was running wierd. I looked and the temp gauge was right in the center like usual. Then I smelled antifreeze, gauge still reading normal. I have the "Torque" OBD II application on my phone and used it to read the trucks computer sensors. That's when I realized the engine temp was actually 238 degrees and climbing quickly.
I quickly pulled over, and just as I was stopping the instrument display said reduced power mode. However the damn temp indicator still was right in the middle.
I want to know if there's a separate sensor for the indicator vs the computer. Other cars I've had before all used a different sensor.
BTW the upper hose had blown off the radiator. I reattached it, and refilled the system with water, no problems since then.
