Driver seat does not move

I'm having a problem with my 2004 Expy where the driver side power seat does not move forward yet the motor seems to turn on. Every once and a while it will move but 99% of the time, it is stuck all the way back. Any tips on how to debug this? Thanks. -- Bud

Once I had a problem with my power seat in my 97 Taurus SHO.

I took the whole seat off and brought it on the kitchen table.

(This was years ago, so my neurons are stuggling to fire here.)

At that time, I discovered a plastic bushing had cracked, or something obvious like that. It was jamming the travel most of the time.

I forgot exactly what I did, but it was something simple like using a nylon strap or two around the bushing to keep it together - as glue was not to be trusted.

I recommend you take it out, flip it upside down, and look for something like that.
