Alright guys I have an issue with my drivers power seat. I have an 08 Expy limited with the 6way heated/cooled seats. As of yesterday the horizontal (forward and back) movement has stopped working completely. I hear a click when I hit the switch but that is all. The lumbar, up/down, tilt, heat/ac all work fine. I checked all the fuses, all the connections and everything looked good. Today I pulled the seat today to check the track and it was clear with no obstructions...... So what am I left with that could be causing the problem, horizontal seat motor?

Thoughts and/or something else to check are welcome.

Thanks,

if its not the motor it could be the gear
Check to see/feel if the motor is turning and if it is then try using a little bit of force to see if you can move the seat forward or backward You may need to use a pry bar or anything that will put some pressure on the seat track.

Had that problem with my 01 and have read of others having similar problems
Now for the really bad news Ford does not sell just the motor and gear the whole seat track need to be replaced.

you could also pull the connector on the motor and make sure you are getting voltage to the motor in both directions

Alright, I checked it and it looks like im getting good voltage to the motor. The motor does not seem to be trying to turn at all. I did apply some force trying to nudge things along, not with a pry bar but a screw driver and it didn't budge. I tried some initial Google fu to search for a new track assembly unit and came up with nothing but some used ads...... Any idea where I can purchase this wonderful sum of many parts I don't need for the one I do?

I'd do a youtube search for the motor replacement how to's. There should be a good shot of the motor that would allow you to tell if you can disassemble it to clean the brushes and grease the shaft.

I've been doing that on power window motors for years....

try tapping on the motor with a hammer or a bar and a hammer if you cannot get to it. I have had that work some times.

Thanks guys, hopefully this week I'll have time to take it apart again. So far everything else is working just not front to back.... Luckily it is in a position that works for both my wife and I, although not ideal

Alright somewhat of an update....... Saturday I jump in the wife's Expy and (drum roll)....the seat works. We've driven it all over this weekend and it's still working. The only issue I notice is that there was a click and a little jerk when it gets to about 2/3 of the way back. Which subsequently stopped yesterday.
