I have a 07 XLT (~250K miles) and both differentials need work. The seals need replacing and fluids change. I've done as much digging as i could to find out what axle I have.
According to the inner door sticker I have the following:
  • Axle: H6
  • Ratio: R
Also the tag on the axle itself is:
  • V531E
  • 23 975 7E07
I cannot find V531E anywhere online and have no idea what the second number is? Can someone chime in on these?

I've found out that the H6 is a limited slip differential (LSD) and the R is the 3.73 ratio. Can someone confirm these?

I'm not really positive it is a LSD as when I spin one wheel the other spins opposite and from my understanding they should spin the same with a Locking or LSD. Ideas?

Questions:
  • Rear diff:
  • What kind of fluid does it take and how much?
  • Do I need friction modifier?
  • In order to replace the seals do i need to remove the CV joints, axle casing, and differential itself or just the CV joints?
  • For the seals, do i need a seal driver or can i just push them in by hand evenly as i can?
  • Front diff:
  • Is there any ID tags or method?
  • What kind of fluid does it take and how much?
  • For the seals, do i need a seal driver or can i just push them in by hand evenly as i can?
  • I know i can slip the CV's out by hand.
  • Transfer case:
  • What kind of fluid does it take and how much?
I appreciate any help. Information on this car is so hard to find out.

I found some of that info in my Owners Manual, which you can Google and get PDF.

My rear diff leaks at side shaft seal (2003). I just fill it occasionally. Just an idea.
