Anyone have problems driving on sand? 08 expo making sure I only have to shut the traction off, or will the rsc still try to adjust the traction?

Where exactly are you driving on the sand?

There's nothing that is more difficult to drive on than loose, dry sand. Just watch some of the Dakkar rally and you'll see. One second you're going along fine and then you lose some momentum or give it a bit too much pedal, and you're suddenly buried up to the axles.

One thing that you'll notice if you head out to any dunes, the vehicles that are out playing there are light, have wide tires (that are aired down) and a decent amount of horsepower. Now look at the Expedition... it is none of those things, especially in stock form.

i agree with TonyDiv,beside proper tires weight is gonna ba an issue, also you are gonna have to make sure that the sand doesnt began to enter or penetrate any vitals like transfer case, tranny, stuff like that, sand can ruin your day and eat your truck alive lol but is a blast to drive on

thanx

all of the replies are without a doubt on the money!! but my problem is generally with the rsc system, i cant take off too fast in a damp road without this thing shutting half of the engine off! I have been taking 4x4 trucks on the beaches in the north east for years to go surf casting, so the regular protocall of airing down and larger tires I am familiar with.
Other than the fact that the aftermarket has not bitten on to the '08 model, I wanted to know if there were any other options I did not know about other than shutting down the rsc and the traction ctrl To stop this thins from poppin and fartin in the sand.

sand driving

i dont like electroic traction aids for that reason. idk how to help you with turning it off. maybe tell some companys if they can make a chip to do it. idk. but my expo drives fine out in glamis. aired down my bfg ats to 15psi and drove all day in 2wd. flooring it stoping fast then taking off fast. nvr needed to put it into 4wd. i did anyways sometimes just to go up some big dunes, but other then that i did fine. i thought weight would be a problem and it really isnt. i think it helps its glide over the dunes or something idk i could just be talking out my @$$. but i kept up with other vehicals that were driving around like me. the fastest i did safely was 40 but i did hit 55 a few times just to see if i could do it. to damn bumpy with my suspension. ill get some pictures of it out there. i have video but it was right b4 a big rain so its very windy out there. cant hear anything but the wind.
