The best setup will always have a shroud to suck air from every corner of the radiator. People who complain about cooling issues are usually the ones who just stuck a fan directly to the radiator with those zip tie thingys that they give you.

also depends of if you get one pushing the air through or pulling the air through. why you want e-fans anyway? usually used for offroading to help keep the truck cool during slow moving.

Just get a Mark VIII fan. Pushes 5000+ CFM, and comes with its own shroud.

I second those Mark VIII fans, they are bad ass. They have a full shroud and cools every square inch of the radiator. But they use a lot of power. I would suggest using a variable speed controller with any electric fan.

I had one on my explorer. I was using one made by Flex-a-lite. Basically it senses water temp at the radiator. If you set the full fan speed target temp at 200 degrees, then at approx 190 it will turn the fan on, and the fan will run about 60% power, if the temp continues to rise, then the fan will increase speed to 70% power and so on. It also lets you wire up the air conditioner, and when the a/c is on the fan will automatically turn on.

A fan using 20 amps of power can really benefit from this controller, 60% is only about 12 amps. Most of the time the fan only runs for a minute while your stopped at a traffic light anyway, and the fan never reaches 100%.
