Evap Code PO455 help

My 2015 Expedition XLT is showing this code:
PO455. Evaporative Emission System leak detected (Large Leak).
My mechanic says it will cost about $400 or so to fix. He had also replaced the fuel pump last Summer because it was making a bad noise. The new fuel pump has continued to make a noise. I smell gas and the check engine light came on and threw that code. Expedition drives fine.
Any thoughts?

What is he quoting doing for $400? Most likely the EVAP Canister needs to be replaced, or a hose is busted. Most likely a hose if you are smelling gas.
