bought a new battery and just so you all know i have been driving her nicer and she is getting 14mpg in town!!!! for people that dont know me i have a 2000 eb hence the name with a 5.4l 4x4 (none are awd, i hate when people say it is it is a4wd there is a huge difference) i have gotts mod with k&n drop in, poweraid tb spacer 4 magnaflow hiflow cats 3in pipe the whole length and flowmaster 40 series to a 4 in chrome tip. i think i got that all right she has been off my mind lately. money is very tight and im gettin ready for surgery soon so my mind is everywhere. i was not on forum after the site switch we had some technical difficulties but shaggy fixed all of that so props to shaggy. i really wanna take her on a trip to see best highway milage but she still needs front wheel bearings and alignment o and all 3 abs sensors complete ac system including the brain i have checked all vacuum lines and they all seem fine so last thing is the brain. need new system since i have high pressure on my low pressure side and compressor has put metal shavings throughout entire system so about 700 in parts.

here is my quick question. how seperate is the front and back systems will i have to replace rear system as well. i need help and ideas you guys i will have possibly 8 weeks of downtime after surgery and im not gonna sit in bed for 8 weeks

There is only one compressor and condenser (front radiator). It T's off to front and rear and has 2 seperate orifice tubes, accumulators, and inside coils. Each orifice tube double as a filter (fine screen mesh) that should catch most debris before it gets to far. The orifice is what creates or meters the pressure differential. On one side the line will be hot, the other it will be cold. Not an a/c guy but learned this much from my killer chiller install.

I hear what your saying about AWD vs A4wd. There is a big difference between all wheel drive (full time 4 wheel drive) and automatic 4 wheel drive. Full time or AWD systems have differential of some sort between front and rear axles and all 4 wheels have power full time. A4wd engages 4wd only as it senses slip in rear wheels. It can not remain active when traction is high (dry pavement) as it will create drivability issues and/or damage to the drivetrain. Due to the lack of differential I prefer A4wd off road or in heavy snow.

Expys are A4wd not AWD! But many don't care about the technical aspect of it....they just know they have 4wd. :)

Wish you the best of luck with your surgery! Hope everything goes well and you have a speedy recovery.

So mine also has the 2wd setting... is this similar to the brown wire mod where it just stops the transfer case clutches from kicking in? I know when you do the brown wire mod in an Explorer, if you spin the rear tires its hard on the clutches..... is it the same in the Expys?

Sorry to hear about surgery 2000eb, hope it all works out ok.

jrjr if you have 2wd option then you dont need brown wire mod. brown wire mod just shut off power to the electrical aspect of the equation and makes it so it doesnt automatically go into 4wd i decided just to pull my fuse i dont have 4wd at all with fuse out but it takes 2 seconds to put the fuse back in
