Does anyone have any thoughts on which trim levels or options would include the Fake Engine Noise that plays through the speakers on many of the Eco-boost fords? A Ford white paper report says it's included in Mustangs and some "performance appearance" F-150' and F-250's. Personally, I don't need fake engine noise to make a V-6 sound like a V-8.

I know the noise cancelling system can be controlled by reprogramming software and that the Fake Engine Noise can also be eliminated with it. Just wondering if it comes on the Expeditions at all.

Never heard of Fake Engine Noise? Google it.

I believe it is only on the Platinum Expeditions have the fake engine sound, It's not on any of the lower trim levels. I can't speak about other models.

I'll chime in once we take delivery of our new Limited MAX. If it is, I will be disabling it with Forscan.

Never heard of this, and I have a new Platinum. I don't need fake engine sounds as my "other" Ford is a 800HP Shelby GT500. Nothing fake about that!

Mustang has a sound induction tube. It goes from intake to under the dash. It just makes engine sound louder. Some people think, it looks hideous and remove them.

I have it in my Ecobost 2.0 Fusion. It is stupid in my opinion. It sounds OK while driving and accelerating, but at idle it magnifies the turbo noise ... and not a good turbo noise at idle. It has been to the dealer and they have replaced the "sound tube" but it still does not sound good. Thank God I don't have it in my Mustang. That thing is LOUD enough!

The fake sound is not just in Fords. BMW and others are also playing around with fake sound. Geeze!

BMW's and other "perceived performance" cars have been installing fake engine noise for many years. Audi and BMW both have used recorded snippets of American V-8's.

Can you remove or disable this ‘feature’? I’m to the point in my life where I want a quieter ride.

Hahahaha yuk yuk yuk. Real talk though I’d be happy with an all electric cehicle given it’s reliable and the charging infrastructure is there.

Electric vehicles have their own issues. Your battery pack on many takes up the whole bottom portion of the car and has a lifespan of 125-200k miles, where a gasoline engine will easily go 300k plus, and is relatively inexpensive to rebuild. To swap the battery cells is insanely expensive. Also need to mention lithium mining and disposals harmful effects. Tesla and many others are absolutely riddled with electrical and computer problems and have major reliability issues.

It takes the equivalent of driving 15,000 miles in pollution to build a Toyota Corolla. It takes the equivalent of driving 85,000 miles in pollution to build a Toyota Prius. So if you really care about saving the planet buy a stripped down Corolla. (it will make you a better driver as well because you can keep both hands on the wheel as you will not be patting yourself on the back like a Prius driver does.)

JExpe said above, the mining and disposal of batteries and components are destructive to the planet. So the "green people" are not as green as they think.

There are plenty of environmental issues with getting crude from the earth as well so to limit pollution comparisons to what comes out of the tail pipe is a little disengenuous. I don’t want electric because I’m a self righteous pat myself on the back type, power wise it’s a better platform and has fewer moving parts. Batteries will continue to evolve and the tech will get better. Gas autos will be looked at as primitive tech probably within my lifetime. There is a video of a Tesla towing a Ferrari while drag racing the same Ferrari and the Tesla wins. It’s hard to argue with displays like that.

This is a little throw off topic but with the fake engine noise some electric cars do and porpously force the continuous drive transmission to act like it's shifting gears by throwing a delay between certain speeds is ok and what's not BUT if your county uses coal plants to generate electrical power isn't all that smoke from burning coal causing more harm to the environment than what a single gasoline engine produces in a life time?

I’m no fan of coal or fake engine noise. We’ll go solar as soon as we can, hopefully within the next 5 years. We are already making the switch to high efficiency items like HVAC and appliances. Just installed two 23.5 seer hvac with multi zone system for the house and while it wasn’t cheap up front it’s make a huge difference in our energy consumption.

The fake noise on electric cars is being pushed by hearing impaired groups. It may become law. My friends Nissan Maximum has paddle shifters.... for a CVT?!?!?!jiFfM.jpg

The noise for the deaf makes sense to me, heck even I have stepped off the curb just to be surprised by a quiet auto. As for the CVT, I’ve driven them a couple times and thought it felt soulless, it’s bad enough that you can’t get a stick hardly in anything but paddle shifters in a CVT i really don’t get.
