I turned off the fake noise with FORScan in my 2018. It is now pretty quiet in the cabin and I can hear the natural sound of the engine. Once you get used to the actual sound it is much easier to hear/sense sounds that aren’t normal and make require some further attention to see if a problem is starting.

Thanks for clarifying! I honestly can't even hear the fake noise, and it definitely doesn't make a V8 sound like my old Hoe.

I don’t notice a fake engine noise in my expedition. My F150 is very noticeable, and I personally think it sounds good.

I got a 3.5 EcoBoost in my 2018 work van, it sounds like a 4 banger and pulls like one 75% of the time, the other 25% of the time it still sounds like a 4 banger but pulls a hemi! I dont get the prevlich of fake noises in my speaker or any sound insulation either, it's called (eco)(boost) you do NOT get both at the same time with this motor it's either one or the other

Argh!!! Those transits are junk vans compared to the E-Series that was available until 2014. Less towing and payload, lighter duty motor and chassis, the list goes on. Not to mention the higher cost to maintain. Mechanics are not big fans of that switch.

The E150's were POS to drive.

Apparently you haven’t driven a Transit..... the E-Series is a lot more stout and less “tin box” than a transit. The E-350s were always great trucks, I don’t understand why they even made a half ton van. The E-Series is still made in 350+ configurations with the 6.2L and 6.8L for stripped chassis consumers as the Transits mechanicals were not up par for HD application.

The "E" series drive like crap in snow, its floor would get 150 degrees, near engine, rode like a tank, arm rest and radio constantly broke. Adios, Big Van.

Sounds like the last Ford van you drove was from the 1980s lol. Did you ever once drive the latest generation (07-14)? Didn’t think so. They are actually great in the snow since they have weight over the rear and a limited slip axle. Love me a good van. Anyway, this thread is about engine noise.

I strongly agree with @rjdelp7, the E series Vans were crap, most uncomfortable seating position for the driver and built like crap, squeaked and rattles everywhere and a 0-60 in two days wasn't cutting it for me. The lack of an Aux or bluetooth stereo pissed me off too on long trips, Plus the 4.6L matted to a 4spd auto is a joke, The transit first of all has a high roof I can stand inside of it, the EcoBoost pulls an 9000 lbs trailer like it's not even there (the E series pulled it too but averaged 8 mpg, the transit does 13.5mpg while towing the same trailer)

The transit does have its draw backs as well but nowhere near the E series. The one I had was a 2013 E250 4.6L regular length, the transit is a 2018 250 3.5L high roof regular length

I only ever drove them equipped with the 5.4 V8/ 5 speed combo.....they had good pickup. As far as build quality that’s something the transit lacks too lol. Difference in opinion I suppose.

Wrong idiot. I just drove a 2013. No one mentioned how it drives on windy days, at 60mph. Its all over the road.
