I dropped off our 2019 Expedition Monday to get the can phasers sorted out under my ESP. I expected to be offered a loaner, but all they offered was a ride to Enterprise, since I didn't buy the car there. My cousin is a mechanic there, so I decided to play that card. He comes in, and they immediately get me a loaner.

I thought they would give me a small sedan with 20k miles, but they bring around an F150 with 600 miles on it. The guy took my insurance info, and told me that, if there was any damage to the windshield, I would be responsible for it. I actually hesitated and said, "Maybe I should walk home." Since I was 40 miles from home, I was kind of in a bind.

I get in the truck yesterday afternoon, and there is a 4" long crack in the windshield. UGH. I still can't believe it. I have 3 cars with over 100k miles, and they all have original windshields. I don't really know how to handle it other than having to file a claim and pay a $500 deductable.
Your auto insurance should take care of that if you have full glass coverage.

I had a 2024 F150 rental for work and one day while driving down the road the rear glass exploded! Scared the CRAP outta me! Never did figure out what happened but the enterprise guys didn't seem surprised. Luckily work covers everything in that case so I just got another truck and rocked on!

I talked to my insurance agent. I don't have special glass coverage, so it's a straight up $500 deductible. I'll be better of paying cash if it's anythign close.

I seriously considered taking the ride to Enterprise, but, as another poster mentioend, there is a limit on number of days. I have a Visa that provides me with insurance coverage on rentals. It all happened pretty fast, though, and I figured that I was a safe driver. Plus, this could end up taking weeks.

As of right now, the dealership has agreed that the cam phasers need replacing. I am still waiting on Ford to approve the warranty claim. I would be getting towards the end of my warranty rental allowance, and they haven't even started the repair.
