Found a dangling wire help ID

Hi guys I'm new here. So I bought a 05 Expedition and found some sort of sensor hanging behind the grill. Can anyone tell me what it is for and does it mount on that bracket you can see in the picture? Thanks for your help!

Ambient air temp sensor?

That is what I was thinking. This might explain why the temp reading was a little whack sometimes. I went ahead and bolted it on. I suppose its not too important if it is in the original spot. It's several inches away from the condenser now so I'll let you guys know if it starts working correctly.
