Front Brake Rotors

I wanted to use genuine Ford parts when I can but the stealer wants $183 EACH for front rotors!

My local parts shop is offering other brands which Im not familiar with
OPParts - $40.10 each
Parts Master - $49.00 each

where is a good place to get original parts? Can anyone suggest good brands that are just as good? (am I over thinking this??)

I run regular rotors from a parts store (30 apiece) and ceramic brake pads. I'm happy with the way she stops.

I've been buying from RockAuto for a few years now,they really do have excellent prices. As far as rotors, that's really not something I'd skimp on, once you get that truck y.ou always wanted then it's time to stop properly...especially if you have kids with you.

Have you mic'd your rotors and KNOW that they need replacing?

Did you ask the Blue Oval team if they will honor any possible discount you may be eligible for, or perhaps price match?

RockAuto or NAPA. The other chain store rotors are hit and miss on quality. RockAuto has a 5% off discount ALL the time. You can google it. NAPA offers "axle sets" for many cars which discounts 2 rotors and a set of premium pads. Most months NAPA has 10% off if you reserve online.

thanks for the info - I try to stay with original or OEM if not upgrade. So with your responses Im glad Im giving this some thought.

Never have your rotors turned; removing metal compromises their ability to handle heat

Good solid rotors from a reputable source, and decent pads are all you need. Don't (sounds like you're not) waste money on slotted/drilled/whatever rotors.

I agree. And even if it doesnt compromise the rotor, its just not worth the time. My view is, once and done.

Good solid rotors from a reputable source, and decent pads are all you need. Don't (sounds like you're not) waste money on slotted/drilled/whatever rotors.

Unless Im retrofitting bigger brakes, I stay with OEM or reputable brands.


on a related note: I read somewhere that brembo doesnt produce cross drilled rotors (for oem replacement application). For factory replacement they only produce blanks and an enterprising 3rd party decides to drill into them

EBC makes excellent aftermarket upgrade brakes .
As for slotted and drilled mine stop the 35" tires and boat faster than stock.

EBay has some great deals on rotors (and other parts). I'm looking to replace mine very soon.

I gave in - I had it replaced with some generic brand. It came to the point I cant drive the X and had no time to do it myself.

$230 out the door with ceramic pads I will get it replaced with proper rotors when I wear these down
