Anyone have any recommendations? Local parts stores are around $250 on average. I see some on Rock Auto for $100 and some in the Amazon for even less still. I usually automatically shove the most expensive and the cheapest off the desk and look at the mid range. But in this case there still is a big difference so I thought I would see what's been working for you guys?

I used the Bosch from Rock Auto, but you can't go wrong with Motorcraft either. But I've used many Bosch fuel pumps in the past on other vehicles and they've always performed well and last a long time. Get as much gas out of the tank as you can before you start the project. The tank is long and awkward and the more gas in it the worse it will be. I use a floor jack to support it while I disconnect everything. The lines are quick connects but they have a goofy retainer on a few of them, others are just push button to release. You can use a big C-clamp to twist off the fuel pump retaining ring, and to tighten it back down. The job is much easier if you have a helper. Remove the left rear tire, and the spare tire to give you easy access.

Brian, what brand did you end up with? How was the install? How do you get the straps off the tank?

Haven't seen Brian on the forum actively for awhile now. Maybe he's there, but like my old CB radio days, when you think it's just you and the other person. Then all of a sudden at 2:00 am, 10 people fire up their microphones. Along with Bosch, I used airtex with good results. The problem with the cheaper pumps is they don't hold pressure well, which when your doing fuel pressure tests for driveability issues, gets you wondering, is it the pump? Or is an injector leaking? Remember it's a tough smelly job to do twice. Spend at least $150.00 on pump. Do it once and be done.

I went w/ the Delphi from the local parts store. Paid a bit more than what rock auto wanted for it but I didn't have the time to wait for delivery. I paid about $286 or so. Install is not bad - I've replaced the tank once before so I knew what I was up against. Main thing is a piece of wood on your jack to distribute the weight, lower it down a little bit at a time to get all the tubing connections without breaking anything. The straps can come off without having to remove the driveshaft like the factory manual tells you to do (IIRC) by playing around with them as you lower the tank.

I'm glad you mentioned airtex, this is what I'm looking at https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0019O2YYG/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_1?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1 it's only $120 on Amazon or Rockauto. You mention $150, so do you think that specific Airtex (E2360M) is good enough, or is it a lower-tier version similar to how Moog's has different series, RK, CK, C, etc?

I was really hoping to hear that! Yes the factory manual says to remove the driveshaft.
So you just wiggle/pry the straps off the side of tank? I'm sure I'll understand once I'm under the vehicle, but I just can't picture that yet.
