i was doing the spark plug on cylinder #7 today and had to remove the fuel rail to get to it and i accidentially popped off the injectors from the rail for cylinder 7 and 8 and now i cant get the rail to seat all the way down on the injector! i have the injectors in the cylinder just fine but i cant get the freaking rail to go down on it all the way no matter what i do! ive even tried sticking the injector in that rail with it out of the cylinder head and it feels like something is blocking it idk i just cant get it to go in all the way. am i doing something wrong?

did the O-ring stay on the injectors when you pulled it?

also, When I did my intake I found it easier to put the o rings on the injectors, then put the injectors into the intake then put the fuel rail on starting from the back. use gas to clean the rings and spray some for lube when you seat them on the rail.

use a pocket screwdriver to get them out but, first, use some 600 grit sand paper to dull the edges on the driver to prevent damaging the seals. spray some gas into the stuck seals to assist.. The injectors won't seat when the seals are still in. ask me how I know :D

YESSSS!!!! I tried what you said but i couldnt get a screwdriver it there because the space was too tight, but i was able to take a small nail and use the flat end to get the o-ring out of injector #7 and then used an allen key to get the one out of #8. getting the fuel rail to seat properly once i had the o-ring on was a little difficult cuz it kepe like pushing it out to the side but i was able to get it after a few tries. all said and done id say i was probably out there about 3-4 hours give or take just for that one plug lol, that was the lasst plug i had left to change tho so itsall done after about a week and a half of me trying to get all these damn plugs done!

good to hear you got it. I had learned this from a prev car that also needed intake gaskets. I had my expeditions plugs, wires, intake gaskets all replaced in about 8 hrs total the first round. could do it now in 3 1/2 to 4 hrs. it's just easier to get the intake out of the way and spend the extra $25 -$30 on new gaskets.
