I know with the ACC on it will fully brake, but what about other times, when my dash red LEDs lit up on the windshield i didn't feel it brake like my other car, does it only just pre-load the brakes?

I've had the automatic brakes come on once in two years...and it saved my ass. When it does happen, there will be no mistaking what just occurred. You will stop FAST and they make a lot of noise (similar to the soft grinding you hear while the rada cruise control is working but MUCH louder).
The red light that flashes when you get too close to a car turning in front of you or something will precharge your brakes, as you said. But you really need to have a very imminent collision for the brakes to apply themselves. In my experience, they are only going to do so if you're about to crash. In other words, you're not really going to be able to test it because you're not going to be comfortable getting as close to catastrophe as will be necessary to do so. Someone on here a while back rigged up a tarp hung across their driveway and drove into it to test it out...don't remember how that worked out.
But the car will apply its brakes if you're going to crash, and you'll be really glad it did.
when i had my armada it would proactively brake, in some cases, it was too aggressive when I was turning and it sensed a road sign, scared the shit out of me.
That's one of the reasons why I'll stay away from cars that have that plus I don't like the new cars have this $15,000 worth of infotainment and safety stuff added on in the price. I'm cheap. So what happens when this BS happens and someone panics and rolls over and gets killed? Is it the cars fault, the manufacturers fault, or the drivers fault? Does it really matter because they are now dead because of more computer faults.

It is neat especially when it works properly. How to manufacture can't seem to get the basic things working a hundred percent for the life of the car. The dash displays have solder joint problems and light issues, the radios stop working or stop tuning or the power buttons stopped turning them off and staying in the end position, the power seats where at even when you're never actually move them even when you turn off the auto back and forth feature like the town cars have.
Luckily, I've never had any problems with the main safety features like airbags or seat belts but it's not going to like you know you have a problem with the airbag unless it explodes on you or unless you get in a wreck and it doesn't deploy. It's almost little too late then. But people do sometimes have problems with seat belts not retracting or not working.
So forgive me if I don't put much faith into the quality of these vehicle components or features.
I'll just stick with driving the cars myself. I'm even okay without ABS and I do have some cars so old as to not have abs.
Just think, the majority of the drivers on the road now have never driven a car without ABS.
With things like stability control and all the other crap the government is pushing for safety people won't even know what's doing into a skid means.. They will stop teaching it.
Part of my complaint for years now. Just like with motorcycles. If you take someone who starts writing now it becomes an excellent motorcycle rider, and then take and put them on a 1994 Honda CBR900RR....they would kill themselves before they got home!
They wouldn't have linked brakes, ABS, launch control and wheelie stop, they wouldn't stand a chance.

It does bring up a good point though that other people's cars now are able to stop fashion the average human so while their car won't hit the car in front of them a normal human will slam into that car after they made a complete stop because they stop so quickly. Eventually the majority of cars may have this feature so it might reduce polyps or just even little fender-bender bumping polyps. I don't think we'll get to that though. Electric self-driving cars or hybrid self-driving cars will take over the for that. I foresee the future to be a long line of very similar cars owned by two or three transport companies like Apple or Google or Uber looking almost like a train going down the road but just not hooked together. The cars will all maintain equal distance from each other and they will all be can interconnected with our 5G Network. The car in front will know where the car in back is going and every car will know her every other car is going because it's all programmed into where the occupant of the car wants to go. This will allow one car to Veer off when it's time for it to Veer off and the cars behind already know and probably already slowdown ahead of time. Also no longer will you have as many entrances or entrances to gas stations and parking lots being used. The car won't abruptly slow down turn on blinker and turn right and disrupt the flow of traffic. The car will know where it's going way ahead of time and it will go on up to the next main intersection or the roundabout way come in the side entrance and navigate through the parking lot to get you where you're going. This will keep the flow of traffic on the roads operating more smoothly. The point of this feature is to activate when your driving may cause an accident, not someone else. Things happen, i mean thats what happened to me and my truck and it happened without the feature. My wife panic stopped, not the auto stop and though we stopped in time, we were still rear ended. But the time my truck stopped on its own, i wasnt rear ended because the person behind me drove how they were supposed to. What happens after the panic stop is not on you it's the person behind you. If they arent paying attention and fail to invoke evasion procedures on their vehicle, its not on you. You can't get mad over a feature that doesnt change, affect, or even activates itself unless your driving is poor in a specific moment.
Good golly, I'll be heading south to buy rust free old cars if all that bull$hit comes along. I can't stand the stuff now, the futures not on my side. I guess I'll just buy a low mile southern car and slide a big block into it and have it MY WAY!
I think I belong on the TV series Roadkill! lol
I wonder what size object it needs to be to trigger this feature. Would a human trigger it?only had my expy for about 3ish weeks, the other day just as I was about to turn into my subdivision, a deer bolted out in front of me. I wasn't going terribly fast (30mph-ish) The expy didn't do anything, I saw it and slammed the brakes on and stopped (what felt like) inches from hitting the deer. I guess it probably didn't have time to register the object, but still makes me wonder about the false sense of security some of these safety protections provide.
Good question. I suspect it’s more a traffic thing (rear ending a car, etc.). This feature is not something to rely on, of course, and would think the system is designed to avoid false positives.I wonder what size object it needs to be to trigger this feature. Would a human trigger it?
