Gen 3 expo struts problem

My ‘13 expy’s front struts have busted again. I just had them replaced 3 years ago with motorcraft ones and I have barely used my truck

Can someone suggest some other brands which are more durable?

Would prefer from someone’s personal experience

Not break but leak

My rears blew out multiple times. I replaced them with Bilstein 4600s and reused the stock springs. No issues since.

Better to not change the spring part............just the shocks.

About 80K and counting. Also, when I had the stock shocks I wasn't hauling/towing anything. I have hauled/towed quite a bit since.

I have a set of KYB struts to put on.

Out of all the other brands, KYB has been the best ride and durability on all of my other vehicles. Bilstein was too stiff, Monroe was dead within a year, Rancho was bone jarringly bad.

What shocks would be best for the rear suspension self leveling tow package on a 2014 Expy Limited? It's not air but mechanical self leveling I guess. No issues with the ride now but it does have 107K miles and I do tow a enclosed car trailer from time to time. Thanks!

I think you're pretty much stuck with Motorcraft. I think the self leveling is the rear shocks themselves. I have a '14 Limited with the tow package as well. I added the 3/2 spacers and had a lot of suspension work done about a year ago. I wanted to replace my struts with aftermarket parts, but found there wasn't much out there for our vehicles. Especially if you ever do the spacers.

My truck is much older but I’ve been using the Monroe 90010 kit for my coil over conversion and I got 80k out of the first kit. Just installed a new one few months ago. Can’t complain getting 80k in the rust belt w harsh winters and salt.

All aluminum trailer is 2,700 lbs. and the car is 3,200lbs. Trying out a new weight distribution hitch and still adjusting it.

Looks like a snowmobile trailer.

It's a 20' with 2' V-nose Lighting trailer by Forest River. I had the escape door installed and moved forward a bit and had the package door installed. I can reach the trailer battery and wheel straps on right front of the car without having to get in the trailer. Getting out of the car is much easier. All aluminum with 10k Dexter axels. Works great!

I'll have to check them out. Looks just like a Legend. I'm trying to find a quality enclosed aluminum trailer (Legend, PROLine out of NH, etc.), but mostly junk in my area.

I looked a long time as well for a trailer. My dealer was Jim Donato at Donato & Sons, Logansport IN. 574-753-0434. They are near where the trailers are built in Indiana and can get access to them. Jim was very helpful in laying this out for me and kept me from making some mistakes. They also do some racing and pull race cars around all of the time. So far after two years I have had no problems with this trailer. I have about 5,000 miles on it and everything is good, pulls easily behind the Expedition. Plus they are good looking trailers. Check out the Lighting Trailer Package with the light upgrade.
