Hey everyone. First post on the forum, but been reading for several weeks now. Just had someone give a '97 EB to us with 185k on it...for free. Good news is that the thing doesn't look bad at all: paint and trim are good, interior is great, and overall it seems to function well. Bad news- previous owner didn't understand the idea of preventative maintenance, or break-down maintenance, as long as the tires would roll, he didn't mess with it. Two weeks ago when we got it, it had a horrible shudder and shake, especially when you tried to accelerate. Shop changed the coils and now it's running fine. CEL came on a day later though, saying that #1 and #2 banks are running lean. After reading on the forum, I'm gonna guess I need to replace some "hosery" at the PCV valve. My question is, can anyone tell me where I can get the best price on the necessary parts? I figure after this, my next step will be fuel filter and fuel pump, cuz I don't think they have ever been changed.
Also, some of the back lights behind the gauges are out...how involved is the process to fix that? Thanks for helping.

go to a ford dealer and buy the pcv valve and line its like $40 that is the most common problem with the running lean condition... there is a sticky post in the how to section on this problem

Changing the lights is not even worth the effort. It involves pulling the dash apart. I can consult my manual when I get home but I'm almost positive its an invovled process.

Thanks guys.

And yeah, I've tried other light change jobs that have been a nightmare. Kinda figured it would be the same with this one, but just figured I would check in case anyone knew for sure.

well i will say that in my 04 i have to change a bulb in my cluster and from my memory it was remove the dash bezel, remove like 4 screw fromcluster and unplug everything .. hardest part was the gear indicator.. not too easy. from there it was smooth sailing till i had to put the indicator back together... rest is cake. out and done in about an hour... but i had no road map.
