It would work but you'd have to do a whole bunch of custom dash work which would probably end up costing you a hell of a lot of money. I think it would be easier just to buy a portable GPS like TomTom or something.

The Ford OEM Nav is made by Pioneer, but honestly it is crap. The screen is poor quality, the GUI is ugly, and how come the OEM maps for the entire North America can fit on one dvd, but Pioneer aftermarket Nav units are 2 DVD disc sets? (one for east one for west).
I would recommend spending a few extra bucks and pick up a Pioneer AVIC-D3 for about $700 and change. HUGE upgrade from the OEM Ford nav unit.

Thats not what he's asking but good info. That is a 2-Din audio unit and the older model Expo's have a 1-Din.

Pioneer AVIC d3 nav

Does anyone know if the ford factory dvd in an 04 will work with the pioneer avic d3 in dash nav, also is there a way to make the nav work with the steering wheel controls?
