I have had my 2003 EB for about a month now, it's so nice to drive, that although I bought it as an errand runner, dog hauler it is quickly becoming my daily driver. I had been using my mother's 95 2 door explorer XLT 5 speed for that duty for several years. My 83 year old mother had had an accident in the Explorer, lost her licence (thank God!) and was no longer driving, my plan was to get rid of it, but it was so handy to have around, even with the body damage I continued to drive it for several years. Well the turns signals were out, registration was about to expire, the time had come, but I had decided I really needed an SUV to replace it and began shopping for an Expedition, I had always liked to looks of the 1st gen since it 1st came out, a bit of research convinced me though that the 2nd gen was what I really wanted. A local dealer had a beautiful looking all black 04, upon checking it out it had numerous issues, sunroof broken, brakes pulsing badly, error msg for the air suspension, blank screen on the stereo/nav system, bubbling tint, etc, but the deal breaker: an empty coolant reservoir and a puddle of coolant on the ground. The dealer said he would have his mechanic look into it, I had dismissed that vehicle as a possibility but stopped in anyway a week or so later just out of curiosity to see what the problem had been, it still hadn't been fixed but was I interested in the "green one"? It has the HD tow package, I had ignored the green Expedition with an aftermarket grill that had been on the lot my 1st visit, that grill and green really isn't my color. But whatever I decided to take a look at it, even with 220,000 miles this was obviously a well kept vehicle, everything that was wrong with the other one was fine on this one, and what sealed the deal: an almost new set of Michelin Defender tires, and what I think is a great price even for a 220,000 mile truck, $3500
